Merit Construction Company was incorporated in 1991 by Bill Kizer and Mark Schilling and specializes in all aspects of commercial construction, including design build, new construction, and renovations. Our business philosophy is based on two essential elements: providing a high level of customer service and a quality product. The byproduct of this philosophy has been continued success and long-term client satisfaction.
Merit knows that putting the customer first will result in an equitable and mutually beneficial partnership. These continued relationships not only ensure Merit’s success but also the professional growth and experience of Merit’s team. Based in Atlanta, Merit employs more than 90 personnel and serves clients throughout Georgia as well as the Southeast.
The strength of Merit is found in its dedicated and experienced workforce. Merit superintendents and project managers are praised for being “extremely reliable and courteous and skillfully performing all aspects of work in a timely manner.” Clients are often pleased to see the same superintendent on a new project that worked on a buildout several years prior. Merit’s success in sustaining a consistent work force is integral to how it maintains customers — with respect and loyalty. The Merit team and customers alike recognize the high level of expectations associated with each project, resulting in a shared sense of pride and fulfillment for every finished product. Without a doubt, Merit is one of the best firms I have ever worked with, in Atlanta or anywhere. They are truly “Client-centric”. They always want to know what they can do to satisfy you. They work with you on initial budgets through a GMP or Lump Sum and make sure that they get you into the budget. Then during construction, they hit the job and hit it hard, from permit expediting to project management, followed through with excellent job site supervision. They self perform a lot of their own work so they control the schedule, not the other way around. And their quality is topnotch.
We would like to take this opportunity to officially thank you and your team for your great work on the Reliance Worldwide Project. You worked diligently to meet our schedule, and Merit’s commitment to working through any challenges was critical to making this project a success. We would like to recognize You, Jason Dutton and Sam Schilling for a job well done.We look forward to growing Cushman and Wakefield’s relationship with Merit and working together on future projects.
We have enjoyed working with Merit and have really been pleased with not only their work but also with how they interact with our staff. I feel they represent Lincoln Properties in a manner that makes key tenants, like our firm, more loyal to you and more satisfied with our financial commitment to LPC. Please note, we are not Merit’s insurance agent, nor have we had any interaction with them prior to this project. We certainly have had numerous subcontractors that we know personally who recommended Merit, and I am writing this email to bring their outstanding work to your attention.
The Merit team took on some of our most challenging projects and executed them without fail. Reroofing a high school over two summers is a daunting task, doing it for multiple projects and delivering them leak-free was an unprecedented accomplishment. Completely gutting and rebuilding a high school kitchen over a summer break was also a daunting task and again you did it multiple times at multiple schools with absolute success. And the list of accomplishments goes on and on.
I just could not let this opportunity pass to tell you what I am sure you have heard before. But in a world where there is a lot wrong, Mark stands out for other reasons. And did I mention that the project was done well? Mark made sure of it. And if I needed something changed because of a mistake in design at my end, he not only corrected the problem, he suggested a better solution. He helped me in ways that go beyond his job description. So, thank you for the build-out, thank you for having Mark Koehler oversee the project.
